"Be still and know that I am God..."

Psalm 46:10

God talks to us in many different ways. He uses the voice of friends and strangers; He uses the mighty sounds of a storm and the sweet melody of a bird. He speaks to us in so many ways each day, but how often do we hear Him? He is always there and never changes – we are the ones who move. God wants us to listen to Him when He speaks, and we need to be still in order to do that. Isaiah 46:10 says, “Be still and know that I am God.” In the busyness of our lives, we are looking for the next “thing”, but God wants us to look to Him for all things.

Busyness affects our overall well being. Physically, we tend to stay up too late, eat “on the fly” and don’t take time for exercise. Mentally, we think we have to get “it” all done – can we ever be all done? Spiritually, we shoot up the "arrow" prayers, slack off on our Bible reading and can’t take the time to “be still”. During this time of the year, take the time to take a walk and see all that God has made – it will improve your health physically, help you focus on the important things and refresh your spirit.
