Partnership Brazil

Leadership at the WOODS has had an ongoing relationship with Pr. Steve & Brenda Heap, missionaries to Brazil for many, many years. They shared their excitement with us regarding the country wide explosion for Christ that they were experiencing. A contingent from the WOODS traveled to Brazil in the summer of 2006 on a vision tour to witness this explosion first hand. We knew that God was leading us to join the excitement and help our brothers & sisters in Christ expand the Kingdom of God. Our first team was assembled in the Fall of 2006 when they traveled to Santa Barbara, Brazil to help with the construction of their new church. Since that time the WOODS has sponsored an exchange student, established a scholarship for a Brazilian young lady to attend nursing school, provided pastoral training for Brazilian pastors, and donated computer equipment for local pastors and the University in Campinas along with three other building projects. We’ve posted our past projects and pictures to share our excitement.

Please join us in praying for our partners in Brazil that the Lord will continue to bless our efforts and His name be lifted high.

Next Project:
March 12th – March 26th , 2009

Two teams from the WOODS will be traveling to Rio Claro, Brazil. One team will begin the renovation process of turning a large old house into a Compassionate Ministries Center. The second team will have the privilege of working alongside
Dr. Geraldo Barbosa, a medical doctor and the Director of the Public Health Department for the city. He will be coordinating the efforts with the city so the clinics can be publicized to the needy communities.

The Renovation team will be removing walls and building others; moving windows and doors; painting; pouring concrete floors along with plumbing and electrical installation.

The Health Care team will be holding medical clinics in rural communities and schools. The emphasis will be ambulatory with the focus on general, pediatrics & gynecological care. There is also a great need for eye examinations.

Please join us in supporting the teams prayerfully and financially as we begin to prepare for God’s work in Brazil.

Third Project:
February 18 – March 3rd , 2008

This was an experimental trip for the WOODS with two teams going in two different directions in the beginning. The two week trip traveled to Santa Rosa Vitereio, Brazil to build a new church building. At the completion of the first week, this team worshipped with Pr. Rodrigo and the Santa Rosa church on Sunday and then departed to Campinas that afternoon for the second part of the trip.

When the second team departed the following Friday, they arrived in Sao Paulo. This team traveled to Campinas where they partnered with Pastor Alex Foneca to perform a week of humanitarian mission work within the city.

Both teams were united on Tuesday of the last week working at a soup kitchen that feeds the homeless, completing a project at ANA a daycare sponsored by Nazarene Compassionate Ministries and painting the interior of a church in the Favella (slum) outside of Campinas.

First & Second Project:
October 2006 & February 2007

The first trip to Brazil was in the Fall of 2006. The team flew into San Paulo and traveled to Santa Barbara to help build the new church facility for Pr. Ramon and his wife Priscilla. Never had we encountered a more humble and generous congregation. They opened their homes and their hearts to our team and made us feel so blessed to have meet them.

When we return in February of 2007 to complete the project if was if we never left. Before returning to the United States the team had the opportunity to visit Rio Dejanario, we witness the beauty of Sugarloaf Mountain, the sparkling beaches of Cococbana and Impanema. Pastor Chet led our Good Friday communion service in the shadows of Christ the Redeemer. Our hearts were full of God’s love and His goodness as we said to goodbye the country and the people we have grown to love.
