Solid Ground Homeless Shelter
In cooperation with other agencies, faith based organizations and individuals, this non-profit addresses the problems of homelessness in Macomb County with an emphasis on families with children, the elderly or disabled. Through transitional and long term programming, they are able to achieve and maintain independence. The WOODs has completed 5 work days at their facility on Gratiot & 696. Work projects included installing the grid and drop ceiling, hanging drywall, building door frames, caulking windows, laying tile and helping with administration work. We look forward to helping them become up and running very soon. Next work days – July 26th & August 23rd.

MCREST
The Hosting Week was June 22nd – June 29th 2008. During this week we had the privilege of housing 35 guests at our school with more than 140 servant leaders involved in praying, cleaning, driving, caring, providing fellowship and service.
Angel Food Ministries
The Woods have partnered with Angel Food Ministries to help distribute food items to low income families or families that just need a little help. For $30 you can receive a box of food containing both fresh and frozen items valued at $75. The food contained within the box can feed a family of (4) four for a week or a senior citizen for a month. The Woods needs 50 volunteers on the last Saturday of each month to help unload the truck, distribute the food items and assist clients in carrying the food to their vehicles. If you would like to order food for yourself or someone you wish to help, order forms are available at the information center.
Sportsmen Against Hunger
WWCC has set a goal of providing 100 deer (approx. 5,000 lbs. of meat) intended for use at Solid Ground. You can help by donating funds, donating venison, and helping contact private landowners who have DNR block permits to harvest deer.
Food Pantry
Through our Food Pantry, The WOODS donates a grocery bag filled with canned and dry goods for families in our community who need extra help. Volunteers are needed to stock, organize and distribute food bags.
